The Price
of Progress
The visual device
Every comfort comes
with a receipt.
The film opens on an ordinary Australian morning. As each convenience appears on screen, a thermal printer rings it up. The prices stay blank until the evidence fills them in, chapter by chapter.
In the final minute the receipt is reprinted with the choices that give back instead: movement, people, sunlight, steam, sleep. The same device runs through the 30, 15 and 5-minute cuts, so every version ends on the same image.

Fact, link or allegation.
The film always says which.
Every factual line in the script carries one of six labels and a source. The labels appear on screen, small and consistent, so viewers can see what is proven and what is still argued. This sample has 23 entries; the full Phase 1 register will hold 80+.
